Rural Minds Launches New Youth Mental Health Program

Rural Minds Founder and Chairman Jeff Winton spoke with the Post-Journal about the nationwide launch of the Rural Youth Mental Wellness Program during National Suicide Prevention Month. The program is built around free, 10 to 15 minute self-help sessions adapted with Northwestern University's Lab for Scalable Mental Health, and was designed with a steering committee of rural youth from New York and Pennsylvania, many of them involved in 4-H, FFA, and the Grange.

Winton noted that the need exists across the country, and that the program includes fact sheets, topic-based resources, and tools for parents, teachers, and other adults who support young people. He encouraged schools, clergy, and youth groups to use it and share feedback as it continues to evolve.
