Carrie E. Banks is the Peer Support Programs Director at Postpartum Support International and is an expert on peer support for perinatal mental health challenges. After the birth of her first child, Carrie was diagnosed with postpartum depression, anxiety and OCD. It was a life-changing experience that led her to switch gears from land conservation work to perinatal mental health. She started out as a PSI volunteer, coordinating under-served and rural areas in North Carolina and served as a founding board member of PSI-NC. Raised on a farm in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, Carrie has a special interest in improving access to mental health services for rural families. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, two kiddos, two cats and a lazy Plott hound named Walter.
