Plant Hope. Grow Change.
Your gift helps strengthen rural mental health for generations to come.
In rural communities across America, people are working hard to build a future for their families, farms, and communities. But access to rural-specific mental health information, support, and resources can be a challenge.
Hope starts with a seed.
A conversation.
A resource.
A young person who knows they’re not alone.
A farmer who knows it’s OK to ask for help.
This year, Rural Minds developed two programs created to address the unique mental health challenges facing rural communities.
Rural Youth Mental Wellness Program
Planting seeds of hope for the next generation.
Young people in rural communities face unique challenges, from isolation and limited access to mental healthcare to the pressures that can come with growing up in small towns and agricultural communities.
The Rural Youth Mental Wellness Program is helping young people find life-saving information, build awareness, and connect with resources around mental health and suicide prevention.
The first and only program of its kind, the program was shaped by a Youth Advisory Committee of rural teens and young adults, ensuring the resources speak directly to their experiences and perspectives. It features culturally relevant content created by rural youth, for rural youth, along with single-session interventions (SSIs) developed by Northwestern University’s Lab for Scalable Mental Health.
Most importantly, the program sends a simple but powerful message: You are not alone. Help is available. And reaching out for support is a sign of strength.
Farmer Mental Health Resilience Program
Growing resilience in farming communities.
Farmers and farm families carry tremendous responsibilities facing unpredictable weather, financial pressures, long hours, and the weight of keeping a farm going for the next generation.
The Farmer Mental Health Resilience Program provides free, confidential resources created for farmers, ranchers, farm families, and agricultural communities.
From conversation starters and mental health information to warning signs and practical tools, the program helps make it easier to recognize when something isn't right and know what to do next.
Because mental health is part of farm health — and asking for help is part of taking care of what matters most.
