Rural Minds shares farmer suicide prevention insights with Successful Farming

Rural Minds Founder and Chairman Jeff Winton was interviewed by Successful Farming for a story on how education and online therapy can help prevent farmer suicide.

Winton said the high rate of farmer suicide means many rural communities are facing a mental health crisis. He encouraged farmers to be more open about depression and mental health, to offer a listening ear, and to help a struggling farmer connect with a professional. The story also covers University of Regina research finding that farmers engaged with an online therapy course and reported feeling less anxious and depressed afterward.
