Colorado’s AG Station–1010 KSIR–Features Interview on Morning Show with Rural Minds Founder Jeff Winton

Jeff Winton shared the personal story of his family’s tragedy that led to Jeff establishing Rural Minds with the mission to serve as the informed voice for mental health in rural America, and to provide mental health information and services. The death by suicide of his 28-year-old nephew, Brooks, was a terrible eye-opener to the prevalence of mental illness in rural communities, and the need for more transparent conversations to confront mental illness and suicide. Additionally, Jeff stressed the importance of recognizing that, just like cancer or heart disease, mental illness is an illness — not a weakness or a character flaw.
